Hello, my name is Sam Bone and I am a New Zealand based student, studying Communication Design at the Otago Polytechnic School of Design, from which I will graduate this year with a Bachelor of Design (Communication).

As long as I can remember I have had a love and passion for art and all things creative. My Grandmother is an occupational oil pastel artist, and I found myself growing up with the idea of art and creativity being a tangible line of work.

As I started to find myself beginning my own artistic endeavours and design work, I really wanted to hone in on what I, myself, found interesting within design, disregarding convention and normality for creativity and vision. In my work, I wanted to create images that would intrigue and visually appeal to whoever I wanted to look at it rather than having my work look like a copy and paste of something made by someone else a hundred times over.

I have a fascination with the fine detail that appears in the work I create and the colours that grow together when creating the designs I love. This passion for detail and colour has laid the foundation for who I see myself as a designer today. I have grown this infatuation for wanting to create intrigue and attention into something that I can apply to whatever project I am assigned or find myself apart of.

Throughout my studies, I have worked on various projects, both self and team directed, for myself and for external clients alike. All of these projects have put me and what I know as a designer to the test, and after each project has been completed, I come away even more experienced and skilled than I was before.

Where I to see myself in the future is designing album artwork, a medium that has not only played a major role in influencing what I like in design, but also one that allows full creative partnership and freedom.
